Dear Ms. Halloran:

Re: Home Care Services for Rita David, 2766 Highway 316, Port Felix, N.S.

On behalf of our family, I would like to acknowledge my sincere thanks and gratitude to your Agency for the services you have been providing to my mother, Rita David and in particular, during this pandemic.

It is very difficult to put words to paper to try and express our appreciation to all the staff of your office from the person who answers the phone, to Barbara Croft who does the scheduling and in particular, two very compassionate, caring, kind and professional Home Care workers, Melanie Webber (Byard) and Patty Langille. Since the pandemic started, these are the two caregivers who have been providing such excellent and professional care for our mother. We have been so impressed by the level of care and respect shown to my elderly mother who is almost 94 years old and who is now totally bedridden. No person ever expects to be in that position and from a very active and caring person herself, she now must totally rely on others for her every-day care and that must be very difficult for her. However, both workers are providing that care to her with dignity and respect.

We feel fortunate and blessed that with the help of paid caregivers, the Home Care Agency, palliative care nurses, public health nurses and family, our mother can remain in her home at such a chaotic time. My mother’s wish is to remain in her home and with such a great team support, I believe we will be able to continue to provide that to her. She often says “there is no place like home.”

We also realize how difficult working during this pandemic is for the Home Care Workers themselves to have to be wearing the PPE and their families have to be very worried and concerned for their welfare as they continue to serve the many clients in our County. But they do so with a smile on their face and a determination to continue to perform their duties in a professional manner.

The last few weeks have been very trying for our family to see our mother deteriorate to the point she has but knowing she is surrounded by such caring and kind people, eases that burden. Please extend to your office staff and workers how much we truly appreciate them. Thank you, thank you, thank you! God Bless each and every one of you as you all continue to provide such a valuable service to our County, our Province and our Country. May you all stay safe and healthy!

With kindest regards,

Darlene David-Cashin
